The hot weather we’ve been experiencing over the last few weeks has resulted in devastating bush fires. Seventy-six people are confirmed dead in Victoria, far surpassing the state’s toll of 47 in the 1983 Ash Wednesday blazes. This number is likely to rise further as fires continue to burn with approx 312,000 hectares affected. So far at least 700 homes have been destroyed and the frightening thing is that this is happening in Melbourne’s outer suburbs, only 30-40 miles from the city. The pictures tell all.
