Winter has arrived 2 days early….its cold, wet and windy in Melbourne now! There is even talk that the drought is over in some parts of the region; probably a bit early to say that but it has rained a fair bit in the last week or so. I’ve even had to look out a rain jacket for work and a jersey!!! Next thing it’ll be the hats and scarves….ah well, it was nice while it lasted!
I better get back to my hot cup of tea….
icy blast article
Mhairi & I went out for a 5km run on Friday eve (long overdue in my case as I’ve just not found the time since little Charlie arrived). We ran out along the beachfront and the view of the city skyline is fantastic. It made me realise how lucky we are to have the opportunity to experience life in another city and what a beautiful city it is!
Charlie has had a really unsettled day, probably as a result of his immunisations yesterday. He woke at 7 this morning and bless his little cotton socks, didn’t really sleep until he eventually went to bed at 9:15 tonight. He cried inconsolably whenever he was laid down to sleep and nothing Mummy, Daddy or Auntie Mhairi did seemed to help. Tomorrow is another day so hopefully he’ll be back to his usual happy self!
Last night I had an enjoyable night in the pub with Neil watching the cup final….Neil was very happy as Celtic won. We went the Celtic club in the CBD and there was around 100 Celtic fans there. As you probably know the ‘tic aren’t my team however it is always good to watch a game from home.
As usual we probably had 1 or 2 too many and I certainly suffered a bit today from it! Babies and hangovers are not a good mix!!
Melbourne definitely has an autumnal feel, with the leaves nearly all off the trees now and some cooler weather this week. Although today was a very pleasant 20 degrees and forecast for 21 over the weekend. Winter officially begins here on the 1st of June….just not Scottish style! Our plans this weekend include K and I having a rare visit to the ‘local’ for a drink tonight. Tomorrow we have Charlie’s jags, a visit to the toy library and Ella has a hair appointment! Tomorrow is Scottish Cup Final day so going to watch it with Neil (another exiled Scot).
Wednesday is a day without Ella as she is in child care. Charlie and I treat ourselves to some time out with a baby yoga class in the morning at Middle Park.
Today, Charlie was in fits of giggles and had great fun when the yoga teacher was massaging him – he’s turned into a really happy content baby. Ella was also in good form when she got home tonight and they both went off to bed very easily.
Charlie slept from 8 – 5.30am last night – so getting better!
We walked to Albert Park this morning with Whitney and Maddie (our Amercian friends) stopping for coffee and baby cino’s before going to storytime at the library. Ella loves storytime and sat with Whitney today while I fed Charlie.
This afternoon, I took Charlie out in the baby carrier and Ella on her trike to the post office and supermarket. We planned to stop at the park on the way back but instead got soaked in the rain.
Both babies were in their beds early tonight. Ella has already been a bit unsettled so who knows what the night holds.
