Last week we took the somewhat brave step to go on a camping holiday, yes you read correctly…..CAMPING! So there was Alan, Ella,Charlie, Ruby, Poppy, Grandma, Grandad and I and it was never going to be straightforward. Alan picked up the campervan and a very delighted Ella & Charlie travelled in there with Daddy & Grandad to Halls Gap. Grandma & I followed in convoy with the babies, the only mishap en route was Poppy deciding to vomit half an hour from our destination!!
All Set and Ready to Go in the Campervan!!
We stayed on the Big 4 campsite ‘Parkside Resort’ in Halls Gap – a brilliant site for the kids and with a stunning backdrop of the Grampians.
Here’s some pictures from the jumping pillow. In the first one I think Daddy & Uncle Harry are having more fun than the kids!!
And some pictures from the pool
Ella & Charlie loved seeing the kangaroos on the campsite and listening to the kookaburras (who apparently don’t make as good a kookaburra noise as Blanche????). They had a ball and loved sleeping up top in the campervan. Ruby & Poppy loved the freedom of crawling around and got v dirty! They did really well adapting to sleeping in the tent except for the night of torrential rain and howling wind – way too noisy for them.

Then suddenly she didn’t seem sleepy anymore!!

On our last night there was a Carols by Candlelight service on a reserve in the town. Its still bizarre to me to sing Christmas carols sitting on a picnic rug on the grass wearing shorts!! It will never have the same Christmassy feel that being at home in Scotland has. Mhairi & Harry drove up on the Saturday morning and spent the last day/night with us. All extra hands were needed to get packed up for the return journey!
On Monday night we heard a band playing outside so Alan went to investigate. It was Santa!! Ella & Charlie were delighted especially with the Curly Wurly he gave them. Ella assures me that its great because “Santa now knows where we live for delivering our presents”. You have to love the logic of toddlers!
