I have a couple of impromptu days off today & tomorrow because poor Christine (the kids nanny) is unwell so I thought we’d make the most of it with school holidays so today we went to the museum. In our world things rarely run smoothly….
I had to go into work first thing and Alan planned on dropping me off there and I could head into the city with the kids straight after. Ruy decided to vomit everywhere as we approached docklands….great! I cleaned most of it up and was determined not to have to head home. I took Ella & Charlie into work which they thought was a big adventure. Meanwhile Alan finished cleaning up Ruby.
Needless to say our first city stop was Target to get some fresh clothes for Ruby then it was off to the museum. She was absolutely fine all day. We had great fun – Charlie loved the dinosaurs and insects, Ella loved the rainforest and ‘mind & body’. There were also lots of school holiday activities so Ella got to watch a theatre sketch of the Titanic while Charlie opted to make a model of the Titanic instead. It certainly filled the day and we didn’t get home till 4!!
Poppy (far) & Ruby
Charlie was the only one willing to stand next to the spiders!
Let’s do some colouring
Fun with mirrors
A moment of brotherly/sisterly love….
The existence of possums in Catani Gardens is still a local issue of contention with the council doing everything in their efforts to stop them living there but they seem to be determined little animals and are still going strong.
Auntie Jill took Ella & Charlie out to feed them this evening and they came back full of excitement and stories about the baby possums on their mummy’s backs. Charlie & Ella were behind the camera and these are the pictures they want on the blog:
Charlie (having stolen Jill’s jumper because he was cold) displaying the days injuries on his knees
It was all too much for Ella who fell asleep on the sofa with Daddy soon after coming home!
Pelican is our new local to grab a coffee and the kids all love walking along there. Here they are in action, getting more tricky to keep up with them all now that Poppy & Ruby have taken to running:
Off we go….
And time to run….
Stopping to pose
I asked them to smile, this is Poppy’s camera smile in action
This afternoon saw some beautiful spring weather at last. We made several attempts to walk over to Albert Park Lake to feed the ducks but due to a puncture on the pram(first attempt), an injured Charlie falling off his scooter (second attempt) and Ruby & Poppy deciding not to walk but sit down on the grass (third attempt) we have up and drove over to the Lake. Here is Charlie:
St Kilda will take on Collingwood this afternoon in the AFL Grand Final and we’ll be cheering for the Saints. This picture is of the old Beaconsfield Hotel, obviously they’re big Saints fans because this flag certainly makes a statement!!
Here’s some pictures from this morning of the kids in their footy colours:
Christine helped Ella & Charlie to make a cubby in the playroom and tonight they decided they wanted to sleep in there. Seriously, they couldn’t have been any more excited!
Settling in for the night
…..He’s not planning on going far just a few blocks away to move in with Jake. It all started this evening when I was reading books before bed and he started crying saying “I want to go and live in Jake’s house so we can play with all the Lightning McQueen cars”. I explained he could play with them when he goes for play dates. It seems that wasn’t good enough.
He continued that Danielle would be his new mum and Craig his new dad because “I don’t like you really much, or Daddy”. Talk about pulling at your heartstrings so I said okay we’ll talk to Danielle and he said “no, she really won’t mind”. Apparently he is keen to have brothers to play cars and “doesn’t really like the girls”. We jokingly offered to pack his bag which provoked only excitement. The icing on the cake was when he told Ella she could “come visit on the airplane when he moves to America” and proceeded to give her what seemed like a heartfelt hug & kiss before turning to Alan and asking “Daddy will you drop me off to Danielle’s in the morning?”.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Danielle are you ready for a third son??????
It seems like a while since I posted one of these photos, maybe because while he still takes a nap he’s been doing it in regular places like laying out on the sofa. Today was another story, this is how I found him:
