We spent the first week of the school holidays with a bunch of friends camping in Sorrento. We were right on the beach and with so many kids (16!) ranging in age from 4 months (superstar Peggy) to 9 we needed there to be lots to do. We need not have worried – the kids busied themselves building cubbies, exploring along the beach, treasure hunts, sandcastle competitions, endless loom band making, colouring, making mud slides in the rain, totem tennis, chess/checkers, hide-and-seek, fishing and the obligatory Easter egg hunt.
A beautiful start to the week:
Fun on the beach despite the weather:
Crazy boy jumped from the pier to this nearby boat
So high….I was worried about Charlie until I spotted Oscar’s feet way above him!
The biggest test (for the adults not the kids) was the 3 days of fairly constant rain in the middle of the week. Thankfully most of the tents remained dry and the communal eating/kitchen area got a quick upgrade with the purchase of several tarps to keep that space dry too!
Daylight savings at the start of the week proved challenging with some of the kids waking as early as 4.45 one morning. It’s impossible to keep the daylight and the sounds of chirping birds out of a tent so most of our days started between 5:30 and 6. The plus side was lots of exhausted kids at the end of the day so the mums & dads could catch up over a few (?????) drinks and dinner of an evening!
